Context
Kopi Kenangan trains baristas across a nationwide network of stores. I designed and developed a set of eLearning modules for barista training, so that store teams could take the training on a phone and L&D could distribute and track it through the LMS.
The learners were frontline baristas with little time for training. They needed short, clear modules they could complete between operational tasks.
Problem
Store teams needed practical training that was easier to access, easier to complete, and more consistent across locations. Existing materials were often static PDFs or PowerPoint files, which made engagement, tracking, and standardization harder.
My role
As the eLearning Developer, I translated source material and stakeholder input into learning flows, storyboards, visual assets, interactions, and LMS-ready modules. I worked with L&D, Operations, subject-matter experts, and barista trainers during analysis, review, and user acceptance testing.
Approach
I developed three types of learning asset:
- Storyline modules for SOP, product knowledge, and soft skills.
- Game-based interactions using drag-and-drop, hotspots, scenario questions, scoring, and instant feedback.
- Rise 360 modules for mobile-first, scroll-based lessons with video, knowledge checks, and structured content.
The work followed these steps:
- Ran a learning need analysis with L&D and Operations stakeholders.
- Created storyboards, mockups, learning flows, and interaction concepts.
- Developed the modules in Storyline 360 and Rise 360.
- Validated content with subject-matter experts and barista trainers.
- Ran user acceptance testing for content accuracy, scoring, navigation, mobile usability, and loading.
- Prepared the modules for LMS deployment.
Deliverables
- Storyline modules covering SOP, product knowledge, and soft skills.
- Mobile-first Rise modules with video and knowledge checks.
- Storyboards, mockups, interaction concepts, and LMS-ready packages.
Outcome
- Replaced static materials with interactive, mobile-ready learning modules.
- Improved the consistency of barista training delivery across stores.
- Supported learning completion tracking through LMS deployment.
- Gave learners scenarios, quizzes, feedback, and game-based practice in place of reading-only material.
